Mani's Bakery Cafe

Mani's has been around for forever, but I just recently had the opportunity to have lunch there. The menu is clearly marked with everything that is vegan or able to be made vegan and I was impressed with the selection! And vegan baked goods to boot, including chocolate-dipped chocolate chip cookies, cupcakes, fruit turnovers, and pie.

Just checked out the menu online. This place totally sounds worth the drive for a vegan breakfast! Woohoo!

you'll probably be disappointed if you have a long drive to Manis, its good / worth mentioning, but I've yet to experience anything really noteworthy there.

(Also, I need to note that the Mani's in Ocean Park is of no relation to this one other than they buy a few of their baked goods. Totally different menu)

new blog coverage! i like mani's. it's pretty convenient for me, and tons of vegan options. i second lex though, don't make a point to drive from far away just to visit mani's. it's not THAT special.

I was out at Wholefoods on Fairfax today and remembered Mani's was nearby. Found it really, really close by when I typed it into VZNavigator, too bad they were closed. Next time!

We finally made it out to Mani's for an early Saturday morning breakfast. This is THE day/time to go! It looks like the city sleeps in late. We arrived around 9-ish and the place was empty. After eyeing the display case we ordered up lots of great-looking food. I had the tofu scramble hash w/potatos while hubby had a huge breakfast burrito. I was delighted to see such an ample selection of tea and even a few caffeine free ones. We also ordered up a giant carrot cake cupcake we spotted in the display case. I've heard wonderful things about their carrot cake and it looked like this was as close as I was going to get to trying it that morning.

The food was delicious, lots of fresh veggies in each of our dishes. The staff was very friendly & attentive even when this place filled up FAST. By the time we finished our meal there were people waiting for tables to open up. I'm glad I don't live close by or I'd go broke eating here. LOL. Our bill came to the price of a decent dinner for the 2 of us. It's a nice once-in-a-while treat.

I saw that post and just checked out the menu. A lot of the stuff looks really good, but kind of spendy!

Well I hate to say it, but the food I had at Mani's tonight is precisely what gives vegan food a BAD NAME. The club sandwich bread was like fiberglass and cardboard mixed together, the vegan cheese was like stale toe fungus and there was no moisture or anything to make it the least bit pleasant. I'm never one to write a bad review... the only redeeming thing was the rosemary bun that came with the soup. You might be going out of business Mani, I just don't get it, but here's an idea for you. "The Greenery" Paint your place green, add eco bulbs and a bunch of plants / ivy etc hire someone to create an organic health based menu. Check out this place in St.louis http://www.crazybowlsandwraps.com/ its healthy easy and fast and there is nothing like it here in LA.
