So I'm pretty sure Sick Of Lettuce's post was hanging in the back of our mind because when we got to Shojin and it was a mad house we had to come up with a quick back up plan and luckily Mrs.A came up with Fatty's so we jetted over there and were BLOWN away by the Vegan offerings. Rule #1 if Chocolate Fondu sounds up your alley you need to order it in the beginning of your meal. Rule #2. if you want to try the maple syrup cotton candy, you need to call ahead and make sure the right person is there that can make it. Rule #3. Soy Ice Cream tastes great in the Ginger Beer soda if you're not into Lambic. The ambience at Fatty's really destroys every vegetarian restaurant in LA. The servers are gracious, white xmas lights are strewn through the exposed wood beams in the ceiling, wood floors and a knock your socks off wine & drink menu, outrageous dessert menu! I had went to Fatty's a year ago when I moved here and I guess I forgot about it. I'm actually really mad at myself for not going more often. I know anyone with parents to impress Fatty's is your go to place for sure! I'm telling you on a Sunday night with no traffic is the best time to enjoy this adventure! Make a reservation!

Thanks for the link!

Yeah, the decor at Fatty's is pretty amazing. Love the style! I forgot to mention in my post, when we walked in someone had just baked chocolate chip cookies and the fresh cookie smell filled the place.

Good to know about Sundays. We went on a Saturday and the host's eyes seriously jumped all the way out of his skull when we said we didn't have a reservation.

That's an interesting take on a sloppy joe! Was that a special? I don't remember seeing it on the menu.

WOW looking at these delicious pics make me hungry all over again!! :P The sloppy joe is always on the menu w/ a vegan request. The veggie meat it self was nothing special and had a very soy flavor (they use the same stuff in the potato tacos). What really makes it special is the wonderfully fakey pastries to dip into the joe!!! Overall it's definitely worth a try!!

ahh! i see. yes, those pastries make my mouth water. ever since going vegan, all i've wanted is nice, flaky bread.

yep! there's a method, though. you have to keep it cold until baking so it doesn't melt and soak into the flour. that's how you get those flaky "pockets". shortening is also used frequently since it's solid at room temp.

I've got to try this place! :D

#1 With a name like "Fatty's" I wouldn't expect it to look so "nice".

#2 Didn't realize there was a vegan joint in Eagle Rock (not that I'm in the area much, but still).

#3 Pics are drool-tastic!
